Police say masked suspects approached a technician who was servicing an ATM and robbed the ATM of cash in Lake in the Hills Tuesday evening.
The Lake in the Hills Police Department responded around 6 p.m. Tuesday to the Bank of America, 240 North Randall Road, for a report of a robbery.
Police officials said several suspects in all black wearing ski masks approached an ATM outside the bank.
The ATM was being serviced by a technician. The suspects stole an undisclosed amount of cash from the ATM, police officials said.
The suspects fled in a dark-colored sedan on Randall Road in an unknown direction.
No one was injured and police said there does not appear to be an “additional or immediate ongoing” threat.
A request for additional details from the police department, including whether the suspects displayed firearms, went unanswered.
Prior to the incident, Bank of America was set to permanently shut down the branch effective January 28.
Police said the investigation is active and ongoing and more information would be released when available.
