Five suspects were arrested on drug charges after a SWAT team conducted a search warrant at a home in Crystal Lake, prompting heavy police activity, Wednesday evening.
The City of Crystal Lake sent an alert around 7:30 p.m. Wednesday warning about heavy police activity in the Crystal Vista subdivision.
The police presence was reported in the 100 block of Heather Drive.
“There is no public safety threat. Please avoid this area until further notice,” the city said.
Residents and court records said the McHenry County Sheriff’s Office was executing a warrant at a house on the block.
The McHenry County Sheriff’s Office Multi-Jurisdictional SWAT team arrested five people inside the home.
Joseph A. Strope, 38, of Crystal Lake, was charged with possession of ammunition with a revoked FOID and possession of a controlled substance.
A criminal complaint filed in McHenry County Circuit Court said Strope possessed a 9mm cartridge, a 28 gauge shotgun shell and a 30-06 live rifle cartridge.
The complaint said Strope unlawfully possessed the ammunition due to not having a valid Firearm Owner’s Identification card, which had been revoked.
Strope also possessed less than 15 grams of a substance containing cocaine, the complaint said.
Kristin M. Meneghetti, 39, of Crystal Lake; Cary Cohen, 37, of Crystal Lake; Dylan W. Eibisch, 24, of Crystal Lake; and Reesa A. Pam, 36, of Crystal Lake, were charged with possession of a controlled substance, a Class 4 felony.
Meneghetti, Eibisch and Pam possessed less than 15 grams of a substance containing cocaine, criminal complaints said.
A criminal complaint said Cohen possessed 54 orange pharmaceutical tablets identified as Buprenorphine and Naloxone.
Pam was additionally charged with one count of obstructing identification.
A criminal complaint said Pam told a police detective her name was “Angie Bakewell” in order to avoid detection for her numerous warrants.
All five suspects arrested reside at the home where the search warrant was conducted, court records show.
They are set to appear in court for an initial appearance hearing on Thursday afternoon.
