Authorities say a large garage and two vehicles were left destroyed after a fire broke out and also damaged an adjacent home, leaving the residents displaced, near Lake Villa.

The Lake Villa Fire Protection District responded around 12:15 a.m. Sunday to the 36400 block of South Nathan Hale Drive in unincorporated Lake Villa for a report of a structure fire.

Firefighters arrived to find a very large garage well involved in flames.

Fire officials said the area does not have fire hydrants and fire crews began tanker operations to haul water to the scene.

The incident was upgraded to the working still alarm to bring multiple nearby fire departments to the scene.

The fire destroyed the garage and two cars that were inside of it, fire officials said.

It also spread to the adjacent ranch house, leaving the home uninhabitable and displacing the residents.

Firefighters worked for approximately an hour to extinguish the fire. Damage was estimated at $150,000.

The residents safely evacuated and no injuries were reported to firefighters.

Fire officials say the fire is believed to be accidental but remains under investigation.
