A suspect was taken into custody after he fled from officers recklessly while speeding and crashed into a house in Woodstock early Sunday morning.

The incident happened around 12:15 a.m. Sunday in the 400 block of Fremont Street in Woodstock.

A criminal complaint filed in McHenry County Circuit Court said a marked Woodstock police squad car with its emergency lights and sirens activated attempted to conduct a traffic stop on a vehicle.

The vehicle refused to pull over and fled from the scene while traveling in excess of 40 mph in a 30 mph zone on Fremont Street.

The car disobeyed a stop sign at Fremont Street and Jefferson Street, the complaint said.

The car continued fleeing and disobeyed another stop sign at Fremont Street and Dean Street.

The complaint said the vehicle crashed into a residence in the 500 block of Dean Street, causing damage.

The Woodstock Fire/Rescue District responded to the scene and reported the car had crashed into the attached deck of the home.

Paramedics evaluated the driver. No injuries were reported to the occupants of the home.

Court records show Leonard Kreger, 34, of Streamwood, was charged with one count of aggravated fleeing to elude causing damage and aggravated fleeing to elude multiple control devices.

It was not immediately known when Kreger was set to appear in court.
