Metra trains on the Milwaukee District North line were halted and delayed after a truck struck a viaduct bridge in Deerfield Thursday morning.

The incident happened around 7:15 a.m. Thursday on Deerfield Road between Robert York Avenue and Chestnut Street in Deerfield.

Metra reported around 7:20 a.m. that Train #2112 was stopped near Deerfield due to a vehicle striking a bridge.

The train was scheduled to arrive at Chicago’s Union Station at 7:53 a.m.

“The duration of this delay is unknown. Metra will provide updates as information becomes available,” Metra said.

Metra reported a short time later that all inbound and outbrain trains were halted due to the incident.

The Deerfield Police Department and Metra Police Department responded to the incident. No injuries were reported.

The truck struck the Metra viaduct along Deerfield Road. Officers reported the bridge and the train tracks were not damaged.

Inbound and outbound trains on the Milwaukee District North line resumed by 7:40 a.m. with delays of up to 30 minutes.

Train #2112 ran express from Northbrook to Union Station with Train #2116 accommodating customers at intermediate stops.

The crash occurred in a spot where there have been routine incidents involving oversized vehicles striking the viaduct.

In February, a semi-trailer was damaged after becoming stuck underneath the viaduct, resulting in traffic being blocked.
