Carolyn A. Castic, 48, of Volo.

A woman allegedly battered her husband after accusing him of contacting escorts and then thinking they were communicating with her through her television in Volo.

Carolyn A. Castic, 48, of Volo, was charged with two counts of domestic battery and one count of possession of drug paraphernalia.

The Lake County Sheriff’s Office responded on December 14 to the 400 block of Purcell Road in Volo for a domestic disturbance.

Lake County Assistant State’s Attorney Dino Katris said Castic was under the influence of crack cocaine and accused her husband of contacting massage services for escorts.

She believed the sex workers were communicating with her through her television using Bluetooth technology, Katris said.

Castic got on top of her husband and started scratching and smacking his chest.

Deputies observed visible scratches to the man’s chest. Deputies have had prior contacts with Castic before and she is a known drug user.

Deputies reported they believed Castic’s drug use exacerbates her “bizarre behavior,” Katris said.

The Lake County State’s Attorney’s Office did not file a petition to detain Castic.

Castic does not have a criminal record and has another place to live away from the victim, prosecutors said.

A public defender for Castic said the situation was mutual and involved a fight over a phone where the husband twisted the woman’s arm.

Lake County Judge Ari Fisz placed Castic on Level 3 pre-trial monitoring services. He ordered her to have no alcohol or drugs, undergo random testing, not possess any dangerous weapons and have no contact with her husband or their residence.

Castic is scheduled to appear in court again on January 15 for a pre-trial hearing.
