Metra reported inbound and outbound train movement was halted on the Union Pacific North line in the area due to the incident.
Extensive delays were reported. Train #322 remained stopped and Train #326 was the next train to accommodate passengers.
A bus was sent to the area for customers at North Chicago and Waukegan, Metra said.
The Lake County Coroner’s Office was called to the scene and is in the process of scheduling an autopsy on the victim.
The victim’s identity is being withheld pending the autopsy, which is scheduled for later Thursday or Friday morning, Newton said.
Metra said the victim’s age was unknown and it is also unknown whether the incident was accidental or intentional.
