Officials say a 61-year-old man has died in the hospital over a week after he was seriously injured in a two-vehicle crash on Route 12 in Fox Lake.

The Fox Lake Fire Protection District and Fox Lake Police Department responded around 6 a.m. on December 20 to the area of Route 12 and Eagle Point Road in Fox Lake for a report of a vehicle crash with injuries.

Emergency crews arrived to find two vehicles involved in the crash in the intersection, according to Lake County Chief Deputy Coroner Steve Newton.

Paramedics transported two people from one of the cars to an area hospital for treatment.

The driver of the second vehicle involved declined medical treatment.

Newton said the driver of the first car, identified as Danny Lamb, 61, of Fox Lake, was admitted to the intensive care unit at Advocate Condell Medical Center in Libertyville.

Lamb was pronounced dead in the ICU on Sunday, nine days following the crash, and the Lake County Coroner’s Office was notified.

A preliminary coroner’s investigation showed Lamb died as a result of blunt force injuries from the crash, Newton said. Toxicology test results are pending.

The Fox Lake Police Department could not be reached Friday for additional information on the crash.
