A winter weather advisory has been issued for Lake County ahead of several inches of snow and gusty winds expected Sunday evening into Monday afternoon.

The National Weather Service (NWS) issued a winter weather advisory in effect from midnight to 4 p.m. Monday for Lake County.

Forecasters say lake effect snow is expected with total snow accumulations of 3-5 inches expected.

Roads, bridges and overpasses will likely become slick and hazardous.

Motorists should plan for slippery road conditions, which could impact the Monday morning and Monday evening commutes, the NWS said.

Gusty winds of 30 mph on Monday may blow snow around contributing to further reduced visibility.

The NWS said weather can vary from bands of locally heavy snow to dry weather just a few miles away during lake effect snow.

“Be prepared for rapid changes in weather, visibility, and road conditions,” the advisory said.
