A crash involving a pickup truck and a semi-truck left one person injured and trapped and shut down part of Interstate 90 near Huntley Sunday morning, authorities said.
The Huntley Fire Protection District, Pingree Grove and Countryside Fire Protection District, Hampshire Fire Protection District and Illinois State Police responded around 8:08 a.m. Sunday to Interstate 90 near milepost 42.5 in Hampshire Township.
Pingree Grove and Countryside Fire Protection District Deputy Chief Chris Howell said it was reported that a car and a semi-truck were involved in a crash.
Fire crews were responding and notified that there was entrapment in one of the vehicles, Howell said.
Three fire engines, three ambulances and three fire chiefs were dispatched to the scene.
The crash occurred in the eastbound lanes of Interstate 90 east of Route 20, which is between Hampshire and Huntley.
Firefighters extricated one victim from a black Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck. Paramedics transported them to a local hospital for treatment, Howell said.
Two lanes of eastbound Interstate 90 were shut down east of the Route 20 onramp for just under an hour.
Troopers reported a 19-year-old woman, who was a passenger in the Chevrolet, was the injured victim.
Tow trucks were called to remove the Chevrolet as well as the Freightliner semi-trailer truck, which sustained front-end damage. The semi-trailer was carrying
The Illinois State Police was investigating the cause of the crash.
