A man suffered critical injuries and was left unresponsive, requiring him to be flown to the hospital, after he fell down the stairs at a home in Wonder Lake.
The Wonder Lake Fire Protection District and Wonder Lake Police Department responded around 2:51 p.m. Saturday to the 3900 block of Greenwood Drive in Wonder Lake for a report of a fall victim.
Wonder Lake Fire Chief Mike Weber said an approximately 60-year-old man fell halfway down a staircase.
The man was walking down the staircase when he fell approximately six to eight feet.
A LifeNet medical helicopter was placed on standby while crews were en route to the scene, Weber said.
Paramedics arrived to find the victim unresponsive and the helicopter was requested to launch.
Weber said an ambulance transported the man to nearby Jacobson Park where the helicopter landed.
The man was transferred to the helicopter and flown to Advocate Condell Medical Center in Libertyville.
Weber said the man suffered critical injuries and an update was not yet known on his condition as of Tuesday.
