A fire department rescue response was sent after a car slid off the roadway onto an icy lake in Fox Lake before partially going into the water Tuesday evening.

The Fox Lake Fire Protection District and Fox Lake Police Department responded around 8:35 p.m. Tuesday to the area of Dick’s Marine Services, 32 North Pistakee Lake Road in Fox Lake, for a report of an ice rescue.

A witness from across the street reported a car went down Hilltop Avenue into Pistakee Lake and it was unknown if anyone was inside.

Police officers were first on the scene and reported the car was on the ice and part of it went through into the water.

Fire crews arrived and confirmed no one was in the car or in the water.

Multiple nearby fire departments were also dispatched to the call with divers and boats but were canceled.

Fox Lake Police Department Sgt. Rick Howell said officers learned the car was parked on the icy hill.

It slid down the hill and ended up on Pistakee Lake but no one was in the car when it went onto the lake, Howell said.

No one was transported to the hospital and no injuries were reported, fire officials said.

Howell said a tow truck was called and officers stood until the vehicle was removed.
