Police arrested two teens after responding to a call of a person displaying what turned out to be an air rifle in the parking lot of a high school in Grayslake Friday afternoon.
The Grayslake Police Department responded around 3:20 p.m. Friday to Grayslake North High School, 1925 North Route 83 in Grayslake.
Police officials said a call was received by a passerby reporting an occupant of a vehicle displaying a firearm in the parking lot.
The offending vehicle was spotted leaving the parking lot but was quickly located by officers.
Officers conducted a traffic stop on the vehicle and two subjects were detained.
A BB gun was recovered during the investigation, police officials said.
The two subjects detained were an 18-year-old man and a 17-year-old girl, according to Grayslake Police Chief Jeff Myhra.
Myhra said the 18-year-old was the driver of the car that was stopped.
He was charged with reckless conduct, disorderly conduct, carrying or discharging an air rifle on a public street, improper use of registration and driving without proof of insurance.
The 17-year-old girl was referred to juvenile court on charges of reckless conduct, disorderly conduct and carrying or discharging an air rifle on a public street.
