A Cook County man has been charged with burglarizing a NAPA Auto Parts store in Crystal Lake by forcing entry to the closed business through a glass window.

Javier A. Barajas, 23, of Cicero, was charged with burglary, theft over $500 and criminal damage to property over $500.

A criminal complaint filed in McHenry County Circuit Court alleges Barajas committed a burglary around 4:50 a.m. on October 25.

The complaint said Barajas caused damage to a glass window while forcing entry to the NAPA Auto Parts, 431 Exchange Drive in Crystal Lake.

Barajas stole loose currency, smart watches, a safe, checks and vehicle keys, according to the complaint.

The complaint said Barajas also stole Autel tablets and an Autel scanner, which are tools used to diagnose vehicle issues.

The valuables stolen were worth over $500 and under $10,000. The business was closed at the time.

The case was investigated by the Crystal Lake Police Department and an arrest warrant was obtained on January 9 for Barajas.

It is unclear whether Barajas was the sole suspect in the case or whether other suspects are being sought.

Court records show the warrant remains active and Barajas is not in the custody of the McHenry County Jail yet.
