Numerous fire departments are responding to a second-alarm fire at a mobile home park in Beach Park where multiple homes caught on fire Monday afternoon.

The Beach Park Fire Department and Lake County Sheriff’s Office responded around 1:35 p.m. Monday to the Beach Park Mobile Homes, 38703 North Sheridan Road in Beach Park, for a report of a structure fire.

Firefighters arrived to find a working fire in a mobile home trailer, according to fire department radio traffic.

Everyone was reported to have evacuated the residence but one person was in need of evaluation by paramedics.

The Zion, Winthrop Harbor and Pleasant Prairie fire departments responded to assist.

The incident was upgraded and the Newport, Waukegan and Gurnee fire departments were called to the scene.

The incident was soon upgraded again to the Mutual Aid Box Alarm System (MABAS) to the box alarm level to bring at least five more departments to the scene.

Fire crews at the scene reported low water pressure from the fire hydrants in the mobile home park and requested the water department to increase water pressure.

The incident was upgraded again around 2 p.m. to the second alarm level through MABAS, bringing several additional fire departments to the scene.

Fire command reported around 3 p.m. that multiple mobile homes had caught on fire and all firefighters were working to extinguish the blaze.

Firefighters remained on the scene around 3:30 p.m. and a bystander told Lake and McHenry County Scanner that smoke was still billowing into the sky but it appeared the fire department was getting the fire under control.

Temperatures were around 10 degrees with a wind chill of -10 degrees, according to weather reports.
