One person was evaluated by paramedics after an extra-alarm fire, which was believed to be accidental, damaged three mobile homes in Beach Park where firefighters were hampered by water issues.
The Beach Park Fire Department and Lake County Sheriff’s Office responded around 1:35 p.m. Monday to the Beach Park Mobile Homes, 38703 North Sheridan Road in Beach Park, for a report of a structure fire.
Beach Park Fire Department Lt. Andrew Morelli said the first crew to arrive found a mobile home fully involved in flames.

The fire was at risk of spreading to mobile home trailers on both sides.
The incident was upgraded to the Mutual Aid Box Alarm System (MABAS) to the second alarm level.
Firefighters made an initial attack on the trailer fire and the exposed structures but had limited water, Morelli said.

Morelli said the fire extended to the mobile home next to it on the south side.
That trailer and the first were both deemed uninhabitable. A parked vehicle was also destroyed.
A third trailer, on the north side of the original fire structure, was damaged and had melted siding but remains habitable.

Firefighters encountered low pressure in the hydrants in the trailer park.
Fire department tanker trucks were called to supply fire engines at the scene, Morelli said.
One person was evaluated by paramedics for unspecific injuries. They were not transported to the hospital.

No firefighters were transported to the hospital and it is unknown if any pets were harmed, Morelli said.
Temperatures were around 10 degrees with a wind chill of -10 degrees, according to weather reports.

Investigators believe the fire started on the exterior of the first trailer toward the rear and the cause was accidental.
Firefighters remained on the scene for approximately four hours. A damage estimate was not immediately available.
Morelli said he estimated 20 fire departments responded to assist.
