A 28-year-old man allegedly had a custom t-shirt produced with a sexually explicit image of a McHenry County woman on it without her permission and then shared it on social media.
Michael D. Whitsey Jr. 28, of Elgin, was charged with four counts of nonconsensual dissemination of a sexual image, a Class 4 felony.
A criminal complaint filed in McHenry County Circuit Court alleges Whitsey intentionally disseminated an image of a 27-year-old woman on September 13 without her consent.
The complaint said Whitsey had sent via email a private sexual image of the woman to the owner of a screenprinting store called The Plug in Morton Grove.
The image showed the woman whose breast was exposed.
Whitsey paid for the image to be printed onto a white t-shirt, the complaint said.
The complaint said Whitsey also disseminated a video on his Snapchat account of another woman with her back to the camera while twerking and wearing the white t-shirt, which had the private sexual image of the other woman on it.
Whitsey also allegedly posted a photo on Snapchat the next day of the white t-shirt with the private sexual image on it accompanied by a caption that said, “Put these dumb sl— on $500 T shirts.”
The victim lives in Marengo and the case was investigated by the Marengo Police Department, which obtained a warrant for Whitsey on December 18.
Whitsey was taken into the custody of the McHenry County Jail on the warrant on Tuesday.
McHenry County Judge Cynthia Lamb released Whitsey from custody and ordered him to not have any contact with the victim or her residence.
He is scheduled to appear in court again on February 26 for a status of preliminary hearing.
