One person was hospitalized after a van crashed into a semi-trailer truck and caused the truck to jackknife, blocking multiple lanes on Interstate 94 near Wadsworth.
The Illinois State Police and Newport Fire Protection District responded around 11:08 a.m. Wednesday to eastbound Interstate 94 near milepost 1.2 in Wadsworth for a vehicle crash with injuries.
Troopers with Illinois State Police (ISP) Troop 3 arrived to find a two-vehicle crash involving a white 2003 Ford van and a blue 2018 Kenworth truck-tractor semi-trailer combination, according to an ISP spokesperson.
A preliminary investigation showed both vehicles were traveling eastbound on Interstate 94 near Russell Road.
The Ford was in lane four when the driver lost control and struck the side of the Kenworth, which was in lane three, the ISP spokesperson said.
The Ford spun out of control and left the roadway. The Kenworth became jackknifed across three lanes of traffic.
The driver of the Ford, Darrick Brown, 61, of Wilmington, Delaware, was transported by ambulance to an area hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
ISP said Brown was charged with driving while license revoked and improper lane usage.
The driver of the Kenworth, a 45-year-old Laredo, Texas, man, reported no injuries at the scene.
All lanes except the left lane were blocked. Ernie’s Wrecker Service responded to the scene to assist in mitigating a fuel leak and with removing the semi-truck from the roadway.
