No one was injured but patrons were startled after a car crashed into a restaurant and shattered a glass window in Huntley Monday afternoon.

The Huntley Fire Protection District and Huntley Police Department responded around 12:05 p.m. Monday to Panda Express, 12340 Route 47 in Huntley, for a report of a vehicle crash.

Huntley Fire Protection District Battalion Chief Eric Bentley said crews found a single-vehicle crash involving the building.

The four-door sedan struck the building but did not enter it. A glass window was shattered, Bentley said.

Patrons were inside the establishment at the time but none were injured.

Bentley said the sole occupant of the sedan, an adult female, was also uninjured and did not require transport to the hospital.

The car, which sustained minor damage, was backed out away from the building when fire crews arrived.

The Village of Huntley Building and Code Enforcement responded to evaluate the minor structural damage, Bentley said.

A board-up company also responded to secure the damaged area until permanent repairs could be made.

A woman said she was having lunch with work friends at the restaurant when the crash happened.

“It made a terrible noise when the glass shattered. The table in the car’s path was (thankfully) empty. We were sitting at the next table over,” she said.
