Authorities say a driver suffered life-threatening injuries after crashing his pickup truck off the roadway in a neighborhood in Libertyville Wednesday afternoon.

The Libertyville Police Department and Libertyville Fire Department responded around 2:29 p.m. Wednesday to the 200 block of Pond Ridge Road for a report of a vehicle crash with injuries.

A 911 caller reported the driver was unconscious. Officers arrived and found he had agonal breathing.

Police officers found the single-vehicle crash involved a black pickup truck.

Officers determined that the truck struck multiple mailboxes, left the roadway and came to a stop in a yard next to a house.

The driver was transported by ambulance to Advocate Condell Medical Center in Libertyville with life-threatening injuries, police officials said.

The driver, a male in his 60s who is a Libertyville resident, was the sole occupant of the vehicle and no one else was injured.

The Lake County Major Crash Assistance Team (MCAT) was activated and responded to the scene to conduct a crash investigation.

Police officials said it is unknown yet what caused the crash as it is still under investigation by the Libertyville Police Department and MCAT.
