No injuries were reported after a police car making a U-turn while responding to an emergency call crashed into another car in Gurnee Friday evening.

A Gurnee Police Department officer was responding to a vehicle crash around 6:40 p.m. Friday and was involved in a minor collision while responding.

Gurnee Police Department Public Information Officer Shawn Gaylor said the incident occurred near Stearns School Road and Dilleys Road.

The officer was traveling eastbound on Stearns School Road and activated their emergency lights, Gaylor said.

The officer initiated a U-turn to travel westbound.

Gaylor said as the officer veered to the right to make the wide turn, the vehicle behind the squad car continued straight.

The officer’s squad car then struck the SUV, driven by a 28-year-old Waukegan woman.

Both vehicles sustained minor damage and no injuries were reported, Gaylor said.

The Gurnee Fire Department responded to the scene to evaluate the occupants involved.

No citations have been issued as the incident remains under investigation by the Gurnee Police Department.
