A Woodstock man was arrested after a group attacked a 15-year-old boy in the entryway to the Walmart store in Algonquin, court records show.

Keon A. Harris, 18, of Woodstock, was charged with aggravated battery in a public place, a Class 3 felony, and mob action, a Class 4 felony.

A criminal complaint filed in McHenry County Circuit Court alleges Harris and two other suspects attacked a 15-year-old boy around 8 p.m. on January 27.

The incident occurred in the vestibule of Walmart, 1410 South Randall Road in Algonquin.

Harris caused bodily harm to the victim by striking the victim multiple times with a closed fist in the face, the complaint said.

The victim suffered visible bruising and discoloration to his right eye. The victim also suffered bleeding from the nose and mouth, the complaint said.

A witness saw the incident occurring and called 911.

Paramedics transported the victim to Northwestern Medicine Huntley Hospital for his injuries.

Officers arrested Harris but court records do not indicate that any other adult suspects have been charged.

McHenry County Judge Cynthia Lamb released Harris from the McHenry County Jail due to the charges being non-detainable under Illinois’ cashless bail law.

Harris was ordered to have no contact with the victim or the Walmart and not possess any firearms.

He is scheduled to appear in court again on February 25 for a status of preliminary hearing.
