A home under renovation was left a total loss after it was found engulfed in flames in North Chicago Tuesday just months after the house previously caught on fire.

The North Chicago Fire Department responded around 10:21 p.m. Tuesday to the 3100 block of 22nd Place for a report of a structure fire.

North Chicago Fire Chief John Umek said a neighbor called 911 after arriving home and spotting the fire.

Dispatchers reported receiving four 911 calls reporting the fire.

The incident was upgraded to bring multiple fire departments to the scene to assist.

Firefighters arrived to find a single-family home that was fully engulfed in flames, Umek said.

Fire crews worked quickly to get water on the fire and bring it under control in approximately 15 minutes.

Umek said the home, which was under renovation, was deemed a complete loss in the fire.

No injuries were reported and crews remained on the scene conducting extensive overhaul operations.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation by the North Chicago Fire Department, Umek said, adding that he could not say whether the fire was believed to be suspicious in nature or not.

In August, the same home, which was also vacant at the time, caught on fire and sustained significant damage.
