A police response was sent to Jacobs High School in Algonquin for an alarm that prompted a hard lockdown Friday morning — the second in less than a month.
The Algonquin Police Department responded just before 12 p.m. Friday to Harry D. Jacobs High School, 2601 Bunker Hill Drive in Algonquin.
School officials said a lockdown alarm was activated at approximately 11:45 a.m.
“We immediately implemented our lockdown procedures and worked closely with local law enforcement to ensure the safety and security of everyone on campus,” the school said in a message to parents.
All students and staff inside the building were safely secured in classrooms or designated locations during the lockdown.
Officers conducted a search of the building and determined the activation was a false alarm.
The lockdown was lifted and students were allowed back into the building.
“We understand this situation may have caused concern, and we appreciate your patience and understanding as we prioritized safety,” school officials added.
Staff and students have since resumed their normal academic activities.
The incident is the second to occur at the school in less than a month.
A heavy police response was sent to the high school on January 17 after the lockdown alarm was activated but later determined to have been a false alarm.
