Police arrested a woman who allegedly made a false police report by claiming she was battered by an employee at a fast food restaurant in Crystal Lake.

Britney A. Johnson, 28, of Harvard, was charged with one count of false report of an offense, a Class 4 felony.

A criminal complaint filed in McHenry County Circuit Court alleges Johnson made a false police report around 5:40 p.m. on February 2 to the Crystal Lake Police Department.

The complaint said Johnson reported she was a victim of a battery at Popeyes, 340 West Virginia Street in Crystal Lake.

Johnson said she was battered by an employee and left injured.

The complaint said officers determined the report was false and did not occur after reviewing the business surveillance video.

Johnson was arrested and transported to the McHenry County Jail on Thursday.

The charge against Johnson is non-detainable under Illinois’ cashless bail law.
