Miguel A. Gonzalez, 47, of Waukegan.

An FBI task force arrested a Waukegan man charged with shooting at a vehicle, wounding a victim, during an expressway shooting that occurred on I-90 in Chicago.

The Illinois State Police (ISP) said they responded around 4:30 a.m. on October 22, 2022, to Interstate 90 northbound near Fullerton Avenue in Chicago for a call of a shooting.

Troopers found a vehicle that had been shot at by the occupant of another vehicle.

A victim inside the car was struck by gunfire and transported to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, ISP said.

ISP did not release further circumstances on what may have led to the shooting.

ISP’s Division of Criminal Investigation Zone 1 conducted an “exhaustive investigation” into the case over more than two years.

ISP agents were able to identify the suspect vehicle and then the suspect as Miguel A. Gonzalez, 47, of Waukegan.

The case was screened with the Cook County State’s Attorney’s Office which approved charges of aggravated battery with a firearm, a Class X felony, and four counts of aggravated discharge of a firearm, a Class 1 felony.

An arrest warrant was issued. ISP agents and the FBI Fugitive Task Force arrested Gonzalez on Wednesday.

Gonzalez was being held pending a court hearing and prosecutors filed a petition to detain him, court records show.

Cook County Judge Luciano Panici Jr. granted the petition and remanded Gonzalez to the Cook County Jail pending trial on Thursday afternoon.
