A woman was transported to the hospital after being rescued from her car that drove through a wall down into an embankment at a car wash in Gurnee.
The Gurnee Fire Department and Gurnee Police Department responded around 2:10 p.m. Sunday to Papo’s Express, 6498 Washington Street in Gurnee, for a vehicle crash with injuries.
Gurnee Fire Department Battalion Chief James Gramer said a car was going through the inside of the car wash.
As the car was exiting the washing area, it continued straight through a privacy wall along the east side of the property.
The sedan drove through the wall and down an approximately five-foot embankment into the yard of a house, Gramer said.
The car was unstable and fire crews secured the vehicle before they removed the older adult female driver.
Gramer said the woman was the sole occupant of the car and suffered minor injuries.
She was transported by ambulance to Northwestern Medicine Lake Forest Hospital for treatment.
No other vehicles were involved in the crash. Gramer said it appeared the cause of the crash was driver error as she was not experiencing a medical emergency at the time it occurred.
