A 16-year-old student was arrested following an FBI tip after police say the child threatened to commit a shooting at Grayslake North High School.
The Grayslake Police Department received information on Tuesday from the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) regarding a threat made.
Grayslake Chief of Police Jeff Myhra said the FBI reported that a current student of Grayslake North High School had made a threat on social media.
The student reportedly posted that they were going to “shoot up” the school.
Myhra said the police department worked with Grayslake North High School to locate the 16-year-old student.
The juvenile was located and arrested with a referral to juvenile court on disorderly conduct charges.
No weapons were found and no credible threat was determined, Myhra said.
The child was released to a parent following a safety assessment that was completed.
Grayslake Community High School District 127 said there was no disruption to the school day and no students, staff or community members were in any danger.
