A family was left displaced after they were awoken to a fire that caused significant damage to their home in Park City Wednesday morning, fire officials said.
The Gurnee Fire Department responded around 4:36 a.m. Wednesday to the 3500 block of Barb Avenue in Park City for a report of a structure fire.
Gurnee Fire Department Battalion Chief James Gramer said a family woke up to the smell of burning in their home.
They realized their mobile home was on fire and evacuated safely.
Firefighters arrived to find smoke coming from the residence with the residents already outside, Gramer said.
Firefighters performed a quick knockdown on the fire during an interior attack.
Gramer said the fire was confined to the room of origin but the structure sustained significant smoke and heat damage throughout.
No injuries were reported to any residents or firefighters.
Two adults, two children and a cat were displaced from the home after it was deemed uninhabitable, Gramer said.
The Waukegan and Beach Park fire departments assisted at the scene and Lake Villa covered one of Gurnee’s fire stations.
Firefighters remained on the scene until just after 6 a.m. before clearing the scene.
A damage estimate was not immediately known and the cause of the fire remains under investigation.
