The coroner has released the identity of a two-year-old boy who died after he was pulled unresponsive from a pool at a house in Bannockburn Monday afternoon.

The Deerfield-Bannockburn Fire Protection District and Bannockburn Police Department responded around 2 p.m. Monday to the 1900 block of Half Day Road for a report of a drowning.

Firefighter-paramedics and police officers arrived at the single-family house in two minutes, according to a joint statement from the police and fire departments.

Emergency crews began resuscitative efforts on the child, who was unconscious and not breathing.

The statement said paramedics transported the child to Endeavor Health Highland Park Hospital where resuscitative efforts continued.

Lifesaving efforts were unsuccessful and the child was pronounced dead in the emergency room.

Lake County Coroner Jennifer Banek identified the child on Wednesday as Noah Probst, who was a year and 10 months old.

Autopsy results showed that the child died as a result of drowning.

The Bannockburn Police Department said they are investigating the drowning but foul play is not suspected.

Bannockburn Police Chief William Annen said the incident occurred in an indoor pool at the home. “It was a very tragic accident,” Annen said.

The Village of Bannockburn and Deerfield-Bannockburn Fire Protection District said they are asking for privacy for the family.

Lake County Chief Deputy Coroner Steve Newton told Lake and McHenry County Scanner that the child was visiting a relative’s home when he drowned in the pool.
