A person was injured after a kitchen fire broke out and left a townhouse uninhabitable in Buffalo Grove Thursday morning, fire officials said.
The Buffalo Grove Fire Department and Buffalo Grove Police Department responded around 11:25 a.m. Thursday to the 200 block of Thornapple Court for a report of a stove on fire.
Firefighters were notified while responding that a person was possibly trapped in the residence.
The incident was upgraded to a working fire response to bring additional fire departments to the scene, fire officials said.
Firefighters and police officers arrived to find smoke showing from one of the four townhome units.
The fire was quickly extinguished and a search revealed no occupants were in the home.
Fire officials said the lone occupant of the unit evacuated on their own and was treated by paramedics for smoke inhalation at the scene.
The affected unit was deemed uninhabitable but the other three units remain habitable.
The Buffalo Grove Fire Department was assisted by the Arlington Heights, Long Grove, Palatine, Wheeling and Des Plaines fire departments.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation by the Buffalo Grove Fire Department.
