Brandon S. Miller, 35, of Wadsworth.

Detectives have arrested an alleged methamphetamine trafficker who the sheriff says has been selling drugs in Lake County, including near the playground of an occupied school.

The Lake County Sheriff’s Office announced Friday that its Special Investigations Group (SIG) concluded an investigation that resulted in the arrest of Brandon S. Miller, 35, of Wadsworth.

The SIG began the investigation after developing information that Miller was selling narcotics, according to Lake County Sheriff’s Office Deputy Chief Christopher Covelli.

Covelli said SIG detectives initiated an undercover operation and found that Miller was selling methamphetamine.

Miller sold methamphetamine near the playground area of an occupied school on one occasion, Covelli said.

SIG detectives seized over 140 grams of methamphetamine during their investigation.

Detectives worked with the Lake County State’s Attorney’s Office, which approved two counts of unlawful delivery of methamphetamine and two counts of unlawful possession of methamphetamine. The charges are Class X and 1 felonies.

A Lake County judge authorized an arrest warrant for Miller last Friday.

He was taken into custody on Thursday by officers in Salem Lakes, Wisconsin.

“Methamphetamine is a highly addictive and dangerous drug that destroys lives and threatens our communities,” Lake County Sheriff John D. Idleburg said.

“I commend our Special Investigations Group for their diligent work in holding another drug trafficker accountable. We will continue to aggressively pursue those who bring illegal drugs into our county, especially near schools and places where children gather,” Idleburg said.

Miller remains held in the Kenosha County Jail pending extradition to Lake County.
