A second Woodstock man has been charged after a group attacked a 15-year-old boy in the entryway to the Walmart store in Algonquin, court records show.
Keon A. Harris, 18, of Woodstock, was charged late last month with aggravated battery in a public place, a Class 3 felony, and mob action, a Class 4 felony.
A second suspect, Fernando Torres, 18, of Woodstock, was charged this week with aggravated battery in a public place, a Class 3 felony, and mob action, a Class 4 felony.
A criminal complaint filed in McHenry County Circuit Court alleges Harris, Torres and a third suspect attacked a 15-year-old boy around 8 p.m. on January 27.
The incident occurred in the vestibule of Walmart, 1410 South Randall Road in Algonquin.
Harris and Torres caused bodily harm to the victim by striking the victim multiple times with their closed fists to his face, the complaint said.
Torres allegedly stomped on the victim during the attack, the complaint said.
The victim suffered visible bruising and discoloration to his right eye. The victim also suffered bleeding from the nose and mouth, the complaint said.
A witness saw the incident occurring and called 911.
Paramedics transported the victim to Northwestern Medicine Huntley Hospital for his injuries.
Officers arrested Harris at the time, while an arrest warrant was issued for Torres on Monday. Torres is not yet in custody and the warrant remains active.
McHenry County Judge Cynthia Lamb released Harris from the McHenry County Jail on January 28 due to the charges being non-detainable under Illinois’ cashless bail law.
Harris was ordered to have no contact with the victim or the Walmart and not possess any firearms.
He is scheduled to appear in court again on March 21 for a preliminary hearing.
