Three people were transported to the hospital after they were injured in a two-vehicle crash that shut down Route 14 near Woodstock Thursday morning.
The Woodstock Fire/Rescue District and McHenry County Sheriff’s Office responded around 6:12 a.m. Thursday to Route 14 and Hartland Road in unincorporated Woodstock for a vehicle crash.
Woodstock Fire/Rescue District Public Information Officer Alex Vucha said crews arrived to find a two-vehicle crash with heavy damage.
One of the cars, a sedan, came to rest just off of the roadway while the other car, an SUV, came to rest approximately 50 feet into a cornfield.
Most of the occupants had exited their vehicles prior to the fire department arriving.
One driver required assistance from their vehicle but they did not need to be extricated, Vucha said.
A total of three ambulances were requested to the scene and three adult victims were transported to local hospitals with minor injuries.
Vucha said crews remained on the scene for approximately 45 minutes to ensure a safe work area while the occupants were evaluated before being transported.
Route 14 was shut down in both directions during the incident.
The McHenry County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the cause of the crash.
