The coroner has released the identity of a Zion woman who died after a two-vehicle crash that shut down Green Bay Road for hours in North Chicago Wednesday afternoon.

The North Chicago Fire Department and North Chicago Police Department responded around 2:40 p.m. Wednesday to the area of Green Bay Road and Saratoga Street for a report of a vehicle crash with injuries.

A 911 caller reported that an elderly female victim was barely breathing.

Lake County Coroner Jennifer Banek identified her as Patricia Lord, 86, of Zion.

Multiple ambulances were dispatched to the scene of the crash, which involved two vehicles.

Police officers arrived and confirmed Lord was unresponsive with no pulse, according to emergency radio traffic.

The autopsy showed she died as a result of blunt force injuries to her head, neck and chest from the vehicle collision, Banek said.

Lord was the driver and sole occupant of her car.

The driver of the second vehicle involved suffered minor injuries and was transported to the hospital, North Chicago Assistant Police Chief Gary Lunn said.

The Lake County Major Crash Assistance Team (MCAT) was called to the scene to conduct a crash reconstruction investigation, Lunn said.

Green Bay Road from Route 137 to 24th Street was shut down for several hours before being reopened around 6:30 p.m.

The North Chicago Police Department has not yet released information on the cause of the crash.

The crash appeared to have been a t-bone-style collision, with one car sustaining heavy front-end damage and the other sustaining damage to its passenger side.
