Firefighters quickly extingushed a fire that began in a truck and spread to a house, also damaging a second vehicle, in Lake in the Hills Saturday afternoon.

The Huntley Fire Protection District responded around 2:58 p.m. Saturday to the 3000 block of Brisbane Drive in Lake in the Hills for a vehicle fire.

Huntley Fire Protection District Battalion Chief Michael Pierce said a vehicle caught on fire in the driveway of a residence.

The initial response included a fire engine and a chief vehicle.

The first arriving fire department unit found a confirmed vehicle fire in the driveway, which had extended into the home, Pierce said.

The incident was upgraded to a working fire response to bring additional resources from Huntley Fire Protection District along with the Algonquin-Lake in the Hills, Crystal Lake and Marengo fire departments.

The resident was home at the time of the fire and self-evacuated.

The fire was quickly brought under control, Pierce said. Two vehicles and the home’s attached garage were damaged.

No injuries were reported to any residents or firefighters.

Despite the damage to the home’s garage, the home was deemed habitable for the residents.

An initial damage estimate was not immediately available and the cause of the fire remains under investigation.
