Police have arrested a Volo man after they say they discovered him in possession of videos and images of child sexual abuse material in Fox Lake.
The Fox Lake Police Department responded around 3:30 p.m. Saturday to a call of a person who had child pornography on his cell phone.
Officers made contact with the alleged offender, identified as Paul Rosenquist, 48, of Volo, according to Fox Lake Police Department Sgt. Rick Howell.
Investigating officers interviewed Rosenquist and confirmed his cell phone contained images and videos of child pornography, Howell said.
A residence was searched and Rosenquist’s cellular phone was seized along with additional electronic devices.
Howell said Rosenquist was arrested for possession of child pornography.
The Lake County State’s Attorney’s Office approved two counts of possession of child pornography depicting a child under 13, a Class 2 felony.
Rosenquist was transported to First Appearance Court on Monday afternoon at the Lake County Courthouse.
The Lake County State’s Attorney’s Office filed a petition to detain him pending trial.
Rosenquist is being held in the Lake County Jail until a detention hearing is held.
Howell said the investigation is ongoing and Rosenquist’s cell phone and other electronic devices are being forensically analyzed by the Lake County State’s Attorney’s Cyber Division.
“[…] it is believed it will contain more depictions of child pornography,” Howell said, adding that additional charges are expected upon the completion of the investigation.
