A man has been sentenced to eight years in prison after pleading guilty to driving drunk and causing a crash that left a 25-year-old woman dead and a second woman seriously injured in Park City.

The Park City Police Department and Waukegan Fire Department responded around 2:19 a.m. on December 3, 2022, to Route 120 and Knight Avenue for a report of a vehicle crash.

The Gurnee Police Department, Waukegan Police Department and Gurnee Fire Department also assisted at the scene.

Kenneth Stoves, a police commander for the Park City Police Department at the time and now the current chief, told Lake and McHenry County Scanner that the incident happened in front of the McDonald’s.

An investigation showed that a 2008 GMC pickup truck, driven by Yovany Reyes, 24, of Park City, had been traveling westbound on Route 120.

The passenger of the Mitsubishi was in the intensive care unit with critical injuries and later died on December 17, 2022.

She was identified as Aysia Graham, 25, of Peoria, the Lake County Coroner’s Office said.

She died from complications of blunt force injuries due to the motor vehicle collision.

Reyes was charged in February 2022 with reckless homicide and two counts of driving under the influence of alcohol.

He was arrested on the warrant and released pending trial after posting 10% of his $200,000 bond.

Court records show Reyes entered into a blind plea deal with the Lake County State’s Attorney’s Office in January.

He pleaded guilty to one count of aggravated driving under the influence causing death, a Class 2 felony, and his less serious charges were dismissed.

A judge on Monday sentenced Reyes to eight years in the Illinois Department of Corrections following a sentencing hearing.

Reyes was taken into the custody of the Lake County Jail following the hearing and is awaiting transfer to a state prison.
