Two drivers were injured after a vehicle crash that resulted in heavy damage and a light pole falling down in Waukegan, police said.
The Waukegan Fire Department and Waukegan Police Department responded around 3:10 a.m. Sunday to the area of Washington Street and Jackson Street for a vehicle crash with injuries.
Waukegan Deputy Police Chief Scott Chastain said a Jeep struck a Buick Enclave west of the intersection.
The Jeep then struck a light pole, causing some power lines to be brought down, Chastain said.
The Jeep, which sustained significant damage, was determined to be the vehicle at fault.
The crash occurred on Washington Street in front of a mechanic shop near Edison Court.
Chastain said the Jeep driver, an adult male from Round Lake Beach, was driving on a revoked driver’s license and also did not have insurance.
The Jeep driver was cited for failure to reduce speed to avoid a crash, driving on a revoked driver’s license and driving without insurance.
The driver of the Buick, an adult male from Waukegan, was driving on a suspended driver’s license and was also cited.
Both male drivers were treated for minor injuries by paramedics, Chastain said.
One of them was transported to the hospital and has since been released. The second driver refused transport to the hospital.
