A Buffalo Grove woman has been arrested and charged after defacing the front of a new Tesla dealership in Buffalo Grove, authorities said.
Erin L. White, 26, of Buffalo Grove, is charged with a Class 4 felony count of criminal damage to property and a misdemeanor count of criminal trespass.
Buffalo Grove police said they were called to a report of vandalism at the Tesla Sales, Service, and Delivery Center in the 900 block of Dundee Road.
According to a video found online, white spray paint covered the front of the building with the words “Trans rights are human rights,” “Trump sold us out,” and a curse word for Tesla CEO Elon Musk.
Tesla car dealerships have been targeted nationwide by protesters due to Musk’s involvement with President Donald Trump administration’s Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE).
In February, hundreds of people attended a protest against Musk and Trump outside a Tesla dealership at 121 South Milwaukee in Libertyville.
The protests also brought dozens of counter-protestors across the street.
The Libertyville protest was organized by the Lake County Democrats.
White is due to appear in Rolling Meadows Court on March 19.
