No injuries were reported following a house fire in Lincolnshire Monday evening that left a home uninhabitable, authorities said.
Firefighters were called to the scene of a residential structure fire on Lincolnshire Drive at 8:36 p.m., said Lincolnshire Riverwoods Fire Protection District Battalion Chief Steve McCaughey.
While en route, Red Center dispatch informed the emergency crews the homeowner saw fire inside the home at an electrical panel, McCaughey said.
The homeowner also told dispatchers he would be waiting outside for the fire department to arrive, McCaughey said.
Emergency crews arrived at a two-story residential home with light smoke and all occupants outside, McCaughey said.
Initial crews made entry to search for the fire and complete a primary search of the home.
McCaughey said a small fire was discovered in the basement along the wall behind the electrical panel.
Crews quickly extinguished the fire with a single-hose line as exterior crews extinguished any fire showing outside of the home, McCaughey said.
Because power remained live, McCaughey said crews had to wait for ComEd to arrive at the home and shut the power off before overhauling the area of the fire.
No occupants were injured, McCaughey said.
The cause and cost of the fire is still under investigation.
The home was deemed uninhabitable Monday because the power was shut off to the home, McCaughey said.
Lincolnshire Riverwoods was assisted by Deerfield Bannockburn, Lake Bluff, and Lake Zurich fire departments, Lincolnshire Police, and Red Center dispatch, McCaughey said.
