No one was injured but a home was deemed uninhabitable during a fire in Fox Lake late Tuesday night, authorities said.

Firefighters were called to the 0 to 100 block of Lawrence Avenue in Fox Lake for a report of smoke showing from a single-family residence, said Fox Lake Fire Protection District Chief Ed Lescher.

Upon arrival, the homeowner was outside of the home and some light smoke was showing from around the door, Lescher said.

Fire crews entered through the front door and immediately saw flames in the living room, Lescher said.

Firefighters were able to douse the flames and deem the fire under control within 10 minutes, he said.

Lescher said no injuries were reported by the homeowner or firefighters involved in the blaze.

Firefighters remained on the scene for an additional hour searching for hot spots and investigating the cause of the fire.

Firefighters cleared the scene at about 12:30 a.m. Wednesday morning, Lescher said.

The home was deemed uninhabitable due to the fire damage in the living room and the heavy smoke damage throughout the home, Lescher said.

A damage estimate was unknown Wednesday, Lescher said.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation by the Fox Lake Fire Department.

Lescher said the Fox Lake Fire Protection District was assisted by firefighters and equipment from Lake Villa, Round Lake, Spring Grove and Grayslake.
