A Woodstock man pleaded guilty to hitting a child with an unknown object and driving under the influence of alcohol, court records show.
Omar Diaz-Hernandez, 23, pleaded guilty to aggravated battery of a child younger than 13 and domestic battery in McHenry County Court Monday, court records show.
Court records show Diaz-Hernandez was sentenced to 120 days in McHenry County Jail and three years of probation after pleading guilty Monday.
The jail term was deemed satisfied by the court for the time Diaz-Hernandez had already served in McHenry County Jail.
The aggravated battery charge is a Class 3 felony that could have put him behind bars for up to seven years had the case gone to trial. The domestic battery charge is a Class A misdemeanor that could have resulted in a jail term of up to one year.
Court records show Diaz-Hernandez was accused of striking the 3-year-old child at 10:54 p.m. on Sept. 29 multiple times with an unknown object.
The child suffered severe bruising and red marks due to the attack, the court complaint reads.
The incident was handled by the Woodstock Police Department, court records show.
In addition, Diaz Hernandez pleaded guilty to a misdemeanor count of driving under the influence of alcohol. He was sentenced to three-year supervision that will be served concurrently with the other sentence.
