Julius M. Williams, 42, of Woodstock.

A Woodstock man has been sentenced to six years in prison for possessing fentanyl-laced drugs and leading police on a chase before crashing in Harvard and fleeing on foot.

Julius M. Williams, 42, of Woodstock, was charged in August 2022 with aggravated fleeing to elude, obstructing justice, resisting a peace officer, unlawful possession of cannabis over 100 grams and unlawful possession of cannabis with intent to deliver.

Officers attempted to conduct a traffic stop on a 2016 Nissan around 12:45 a.m. on August 1, 2022.

Harvard Police Chief Tyson Bauman said at the time that the driver, Williams, was driving erratically near Division Street and Brink Street.

Williams fled from officers in the vehicle before being involved in a crash at Thompson Street and Marengo Road, Bauman said.

Williams’ vehicle became disabled in the crash and he fled on foot.

Bauman said officers chased the man on foot and were able to arrest him.

Officers noted Williams was intoxicated. The man refused to undergo alcohol testing despite a warrant signed by a judge, court records show.

Williams was found in possession of more than 100 grams of cannabis.

In addition to his charges, he was cited for driving on the wrong side of the road, driving while license suspended, driving under the influence of alcohol, operating an uninsured motor vehicle, fleeing and attempting to elude an officer, failure to reduce speed to avoid a crash, disobeying a stop sign and unlawful possession of cannabis.

Williams was transported to the McHenry County Jail where he was ordered held on a $15,000 bond. He was released after posting 10% of the bond.

While out on bond, Williams was arrested by the Harvard Police Department again on March 18, 2023, for aggravated battery in a public place.

He was released from custody after posting 10% of a $30,000 bond.

While out on bond in both of the Harvard cases, Williams was arrested by the McHenry County Sheriff’s Office and charged in May 2024 with manufacturing or delivery of 15-100 grams of cocaine, manufacturing or delivery of 15-100 grams of fentanyl, possession of 15-100 grams of cocaine, possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Court documents said Williams was found with 42 grams of fentanyl-laced cocaine at his residence in Woodstock.

The drugs were packed into seven different bags and there was packaging material and a digital scale.

Court records show Williams entered into a negotiated plea deal in the first and second cases late last month.

Court records show Williams entered into a negotiated plea deal in his third case on March 12.
