State police are investigating after a video went viral on social media that appears to show a worker beating a resident with an object at the Ann Kiley Center in Waukegan.

The video, taken at Ann Kiley Developmental Center, was published on Monday afternoon on Facebook.

The center serves a broad spectrum of individuals with moderate to high behavioral and low to moderate medical needs.

The brief video showed a man on the floor on his hands and knees while a worker stood over him.

The female worker was seen opening a kitchen drawer and retrieving a large kitchen utensil before striking the resident on the head with it.

The worker could be heard telling the man to “stand up, let’s go” after she struck him, the video showed.

At least one other worker could be seen standing nearby as the incident occurred.
