Police are investigating a reported stabbing at a home in Winthrop Harbor that left one person transported to the hospital, prompting a multi-agency police response.

The Winthrop Harbor Police Department and Winthrop Harbor Fire Department responded around 11:40 a.m. Sunday to the 900 block of Kimberly Lane.

Emergency radio traffic indicated that one person was stabbed at the residence.

Paramedics transported the victim to Vista Medical Center East in Waukegan.

Police officials said in a public statement that a “domestic-related incident” occurred.

The Winthrop Harbor Police Department was assisted by neighboring law enforcement agencies.

“There was no threat to the community related to this incident,” the Winthrop Harbor Police Department said.

The statement did not provide any details on the circumstances of what occurred and also did not say whether any suspects were taken into custody.

Court records show no charges have been filed yet.

Multiple attempts to reach Winthrop Harbor Police Chief Anthony Velardi for additional information went unanswered.

Lake and McHenry County Scanner has filed a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request seeking the police reports.
