A man suffered serious injuries and was left trapped in his car after a T-bone crash with a semi-truck on Route 120 in Woodstock Thursday afternoon, authorities said.
The Woodstock Fire/Rescue District and Woodstock Police Department responded around 12:03 p.m. Thursday to the intersection of Route 120 and North Queen Anne Road for a report of a vehicle crash with entrapment.
Woodstock Fire/Rescue District Public Information Officer Alex Vucha said first responders arrived within minutes.
They found a T-bone style collision involving a semi-truck and a sedan.
The semi-truck, which was hauling machinery, sustained minor damage.
Vucha said the impact caused moderate intrusion into the driver’s side of the sedan, trapping the adult male driver.
The seriously injured driver was extricated within 10 minutes and transferred to an awaiting ambulance.
He was transported to the helipad at Northwestern Medicine Woodstock Hospital where a LifeNet medical helicopter landed, Vucha said.
The man was then airlifted to a Level 1 trauma center for further treatment.
Vucha said the driver of the semi-truck declined medical treatment at the scene.
The Woodstock Police Department is investigating the cause of the crash.
