A Vernon Hills woman was hospitalized after she crashed off the roadway, rolling her car over and striking two poles, near Mundelein, the sheriff’s office said.
The Lake County Sheriff’s Office and Countryside Fire Protection District responded around 12:45 a.m. Friday to the area of Indian Creek Road and Gilmer Road in unincorporated Mundelein for a vehicle crash with injuries.
The Hawthorn Woods Police Department and Lake Zurich Fire Rescue Department also responded.
Hawthorn Woods police officers arrived on the scene first and reported that a person was trapped inside the car.
All three occupants were out of the vehicle by the time sheriff’s deputies arrived, according to Lake County Sheriff’s Office Detective Sergeant Matthew Harmon.
A preliminary investigation showed that the car was traveling southeast on Gilmer Road near Indian Creek Road.
Harmon said the vehicle, for unknown reasons, left the roadway and rolled over, striking two utility poles.
The driver, a 46-year-old Vernon Hills woman, was transported by ambulance to Advocate Condell Medical Center in Libertyville with injuries that were not life-threatening.
Harmon said the two passengers in the car declined medical treatment.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation but alcohol appears to be a factor.
