Deputies arrested a Round Lake man accused of shooting a dog with an airsoft gun after the animal ran through his front yard, authorities said.
The Lake County Sheriff’s Office responded around 11:15 a.m. last Wednesday to the 24300 block of West Tyler Avenue in unincorporated Round Lake.
Lake County Sheriff’s Office Deputy Chief Christopher Covelli said a call was received for someone shooting a BB gun at a dog and a house.
Sheriff’s deputies arrived and learned Andy E. Paredes, 31, who lives on the block, had been throwing rocks at a neighbor’s home.
Covelli said Paredes had also been shooting an airsoft gun at a small black and white dog that was running in his front yard.
The neighbor confronted Paredes about his actions and Paredes then threatened the neighbor with physical harm, Covelli said.
Covelli said deputies determined Paredes was shooting the airsoft gun at the dog because it got off its leash and was running through his front yard.
Deputies arrested Parades and charged him with animal cruelty, disorderly conduct, assault and criminal damage to property.
The dog did not appear to have been injured by Paredes’ actions, Covelli said.
Paredes was released from the Lake County Jail and is scheduled to appear in court on May 5.
