Police arrested a driver who crashed into a school bus while driving under the influence of alcohol in Mundelein Friday morning, authorities said.
The Mundelein Police Department and Mundelein Fire Department responded around 7:48 a.m. Friday to the area of Butterfield Road and Allanson Road for a vehicle crash.
Mundelein Deputy Chief of Police Tom Poynor said officers found a crash involving a school bus and a Nissan sedan.
The Nissan struck the Lakeside Transportation bus while on private property at Ruprecht Company, 1301 Allanson Road.
Officers located the drivers of both vehicles at the scene, Poynor said. No students were onboard the bus at the time of the crash.
Both drivers were evaluated by paramedics for minor injury but they were not transported to the hospital.
Poynor said a preliminary investigation was conducted and the driver of the Nissan was determined to be intoxicated.
The driver was arrested and charged with driving while under the influence of alcohol.
A tow truck was called to remove the Nissan from the scene. The school bus remained drivable.
